What PTOWise Does
Paid time off is one of the most critical elements of employee compensation, yet calculating accrual velocity, pay period credits, rollover limits, and final paycheck payouts is often opaque. PTOWise was created to make PTO math clear, accessible, and easily verifiable.

Your calculator inputs are processed in your browser. PTOWise does not require your salary, leave balance, employer name, or personal details to calculate results. All formulas run locally via client-side JavaScript, ensuring zero transmission of personal payroll data to external servers.
How Calculations Are Performed
Calculations on PTOWise follow standard payroll accounting formulas used across major American payroll systems (such as ADP, Paychex, and Gusto). Per-paycheck accruals divide annual allowances across standard payroll intervals (52 weekly, 26 biweekly, 24 semi-monthly, or 12 monthly). Hourly accruals are derived from standard full-time annual working hours (2,080 hours).
Sourcing & Review Standards
All legal information across our state directories is researched using primary government resources, including state departments of labor, enacted state labor codes, and IRS publications. We do not use third-party aggregators as primary sources.
State leave rules and statutory mandates are reviewed periodically to reflect legislative updates. Each state guide displays its verified state agency source and last reviewed date.
